What Causes Frontal Hair Loss in Men?

While many men consider balding a part of aging, it doesn't have to be. Even though male pattern baldness (considered a genetic condition) is one of the primary causes of frontal hair loss in men, it is not the be-all and end-all of baldness for men in New Orleans. Frontal hair loss can be controlled thanks to technological advances and devices that are available at the Hair Loss Control Clinic. Pete Zito, certified hair loss consultant, has a plethora of information and treatments available for men who come into his office complaining of frontal hair loss, and overall hair thinning and balding.

Frontal hair loss is just one of the first signs of male pattern baldness. The hair near the front of the forehead will start to recede, sometimes leaving behind an obvious widow's peak. As the hair recedes, it will typically become less dense and thick as well, making it appear thinner as it continues to recede. Men with male pattern baldness may also notice a thinning of the hair at the crown of their head. As the baldness advances, the receding hairline will meet with the thinning on the crown of the head, leaving men with a "horseshoe" appearance to their hair, wrapping from the sides and around to the back, before it continues to thin entirely.

While male pattern baldness is often referred to as a genetic condition, studies have shown that it is also linked to the production of a hormone called DHT. DHT, or Dihydrotestosterone, is a hormone that can block the necessary vitamins and minerals from getting to the hair follicle and allowing it to grow. This causes hair to become finer and thinner, and eventually shrinks the hair follicle to keep it from being an active follicle for growth. This is what results in true baldness, which many consider just a result of "old age.” However, hair loss and balding doesn't have to be a part of YOUR aging process. By taking control of your hair loss situation sooner, you can maintain a full head of hair and experience what it's like to not be a victim of male pattern baldness.

Thanks to topical products and non-surgical solutions, DHT production can be blocked and men can experience hair follicle regrowth. Pete Zito, certified hair loss consultant at Hair Loss Control Clinic, can assist individuals in reversing the signs of genetic hair loss and male pattern baldness.
